All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal has achieved a significant medical milestone by successfully completing a challenging MRI procedure to investigate a brain-related problem in a newborn. The infant was referred to AIIMS Bhopal with suspected brain complications. As initial examinations did not confirm the issue, an MRI was deemed necessary. Given the extremely delicate condition of the newborn, the doctors in the MRI room immediately scheduled the examination.
The loud noise and environment of an MRI machine are considered quite challenging for newborns.
Despite these circumstances, an experienced medical team at AIIMS Bhopal kept the infant under their supervision in the MRI room for approximately 45 minutes and successfully completed the entire procedure.
Typically, most brain-related conditions in newborns are investigated using ultrasound, but MRI is also performed when necessary. AIIMS Bhopal ensures appropriate and equitable use of resources for all patients. Professor Singh stated that AIIMS Bhopal is committed to providing the best medical facilities to every patient. He described the special arrangements made for this newborn as a symbol of medical dedication and spirit of service. According to him, this example proves that the level of care at AIIMS Bhopal is not only technically excellent but also sensitive from a human perspective.
