A meeting of the Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Nagpur Division area of South East Central Railway was held with the General Manager, Tarun Prakash here at Hotel Tuli International in Sadar on Friday.
Faggan Singh Kulaste, MP from Mandla, presided over the meeting. Dr Namdeo Usendi, MP from Gadchiroli-Chimur; Bharati Pawar, MP from Balaghat; Shyamkumar Barwe, MP from Ramtek; Banti Vivek Sahu, MP from Chhindwara; and other dignitaries were also present.
At the outset, General Manager Tarun Prakash welcomed the MPs and expressed his gratitude for their guidance and valuable suggestions, which would help improve the services of the railway.
During the meeting, a presentation was made on the achievements of South East Central Railway, passenger facilities, and development works.
Deepak Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Nagpur, presented a detailed report on the passenger facilities being developed in the Nagpur Division, including the development of basic infrastructure, capacity augmentation of trains, and special facilities for senior citizens, differently-abled persons, and women, such as the Akshita Safe Bubble and the Meri Saheli campaign.
The Akshita Safe Bubble is a safety initiative by the South East Central Railway (SECR) to create secure waiting areas for female passengers on railway platforms. These designated areas are designed to provide a comfortable and secure environment for women waiting alone, with features like well-lit spaces, CCTVs, RPF presence, and amenities like refreshment stalls and digital displays.
Similarly, Meri Saheli is an Indian Railways initiative designed to enhance the safety and security of female passengers traveling alone on long-distance trains.
The MPs expressed their satisfaction over the development works and passenger facilities being provided by the railway.
The Mps also raised various issues related to their respective constituencies, including the expansion of passenger facilities at railway stations, punctuality of trains, introduction of new train services, upgradation of existing facilities, and extension of train halts.
The General Manager thanked the MPs for their suggestions and assured them that the issues raised would be addressed on a priority basis. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Sameer Kant Mathur, Additional General Manager.
