A four-hour mock drill was conducted on June 1 to assess the functionality and oxygen purity of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plants installed in government healthcare facilities across Bhopal. The exercise, supervised by institutional heads and executed by PSA plant technicians, evaluated oxygen flow and pressure at patient bedside outlets.
The drill recorded oxygen pressure at 4.6 bar from PSA plants and 4.2 bar at bedside outlets. Additionally, the availability and functionality of emergency fire safety systems were tested.
Bhopal’s District Hospital operates two 1000 LPM (liters per minute) oxygen plants and a 6-kiloliter Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) plant.
Other facilities, including Bairagarh Civil Hospital, KNK Hospital, Bairasia, Kolar Community Health Centre, Nazirabad Primary Health Centre, and various government health institutions, also have operational oxygen plants.
Specifically, K.N.K. Civil Hospital has a 500 LPM PSA plant and a 1-kiloliter LMO plant, while Bairagarh and Kolar each have 150 LPM plants.
AIIMS Bhopal operates a 1000 LPM plant, Gandhi Medical College has a 5000 LPM plant, Kamla Nehru Gas Rahat, Khushilal, and Railway Hospital each have 500 LPM plants, Kasturba Hospital has a 500 LPM plant, and Nazirabad Primary Health Centre operates a 250 LPM plant.
