Overlooking traffic safety norms at the narrow Katanga over-bridge has sparked serious concerns over the rising instances of traffic rule violations and potential road safety hazards. Vehicles driven recklessly and occupying both lanes on a bridge designed for controlled, single-lane flow in each direction, highlights the growing disregard for basic traffic discipline. This blatant violation not only poses a direct threat to oncoming vehicles but also severely increases the risk of head-on collisions, especially on elevated, narrow pathways like the Katanga over-bridge. With little room for error, even a slight miscalculation could result in a major accident, endangering lives and causing significant property damage.

Local commuters have raised concerns about the absence of visible enforcement and the lack of signage or speed control mechanisms. “Every day we see cars rushing, overtaking on this narrow bridge like it’s a highway. There’s no check, and it feels like an accident is just waiting to happen,” said a daily motorist who uses the bridge regularly. Authorities are being urged to take immediate action to install proper signage, enforce one-lane driving rules and deploy traffic police to monitor compliance, particularly during peak hours. With the bridge being a critical connector for thousands of vehicles daily, ensuring strict adherence to traffic norms is not just necessary, it is imperative for public safety.
