THE freedom struggle for Balochistan has heated up with the ‘liberation’ of Surab city in the province from Pakistani control by Baloch freedom fighters who have claimed to have paralysed the military, administrative and financial structure of ‘the enemy State’. By any standard, this should be considered a step further for the Baloch freedom struggle because it points to a greater gaining of strength on part of the freedom fighters. From now on, the Pakistani rulers will find themselves getting pushed back into a tighter spot every passing day.
Of course, as can be imagined, the Pakistani power pyramid would respond with brutal force and would try to overpower the freedom fighters by resorting to violence of unprecedented proportions. In fact, the Pakistani rulers have been resorting to violent means to snuff out the Baloch freedom struggle all these years -- but only to a limited success. For, no matter what the Pakistanis do, the Baloch freedom fighters have been seen to acquire greater strength and support to their struggle of decades.
So strong are the signals from Balochistan that many international observers are expecting a terrible flash-point in the hostilities between the Baloch freedom fighters and the Pakistani power machine in the near future. If that prediction really comes true, then the world will see the Baloch struggle gaining a greater support from all over. It is important to state here that the world has already taken a serious note of the case the Baloch people have built in favour of their freedom from the Pakistani hands. Even the United Nations have raised issues with Pakistan on the subject -- thanks to the intense and successful lobbying of the Balochistani freedom fighters all over the world.
Those who have studied the process of disintegration of Pakistan over the past seven-plus decades are also expecting Pakistan to be sheared into as many as five pieces including Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab among those.
These observers insist that no power in Pakistan will be able to stall this process because the State of Pakistan stands on an ice-thin foundation of hate and deceit and would not be able to find strength good enough to protect its territorial integrity
Time and again, the leaders of the Baloch struggle have appealed to India for an open support to their movement. They have also urged India to allow them to open a diplomatic mission in New Delhi highlighting their struggle. Though India has not said a word so far about such pressure, the common Indian people have expressed a wholehearted support to the Baloch struggle. They realise how Pakistan had annexed Balochistan at the time of Partition by force as well as massive deception (at the hands of Pakistan founder Barrister Mohammad Ali Jinnah). The details of whatever may happen apart, it is obvious that the Baloch issue would hurt Pakistan with no solution in sight in its favour.
