Imambada Police have arrested four drug smugglers and seized a large quantity of narcotics. A total of 239.660 grams of Mephedrone (MD) powder, worth nearly Rs 12 lakh, was recovered during an operation. Acting on a tip-off, the police team, laid a trap on the road between TB Ward checkpoint and Jattarodi checkpoint.
 
At around 12.35 pm on Saturday, they stopped a white Maruti Swift car (MH-49/BB-0613). Inside the car were four suspects who were caught transporting the drugs for sale. The arrested accused have been identified as: Nilesh Laxmanrao Deshmukh (34), Pranay alias Sumit Gopalrao Gayadhane (31),
 
Ashish Prakash Madavi (31), a resident of Siraspeth, Telipura and Shubham alias Bhuya Rajesh Tidke (30), a resident of Somwari Quarters, Tupkar square. During the search, police found the MD powder packed in a ziplock bag, along with four mobile phones and the vehicle, all worth a total of Rs 18.65 lakh. The accused confessed to selling the drugs for financial gain. A case has been registered against them under Section 8(a), 22(a), and 29 of the NDPS Act at the Imambada Police Station.
 
All four accused are currently in custody, and further investigation is in progress. The arrest was made by Sr PI Rahul Shire, PI Ganesh Khandate, API Ganesh Pawar, and staff including Sandip Borsare, Virendra Gulrandhe, Chandrashekhar Dekate, Jitendra Choudhary, Ranjeet Sakkarwar, Kunal Uike, Himanshu and others.
