The first meeting of Airport Advisory Committee (ADC) of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Jabalpur was held to discussed development and enhancement of airport facilities. Member of Parliament Ashish Dubey chaired the meeting, convened at Dumna airport premises. The meeting started with lighting of ceremonial lamp and paying homage to the victims of the recent Ahmedabad air tragedy. Officials of the Airport Authority of India presented a comprehensive report on the current status, functioning and future plans for the airport. MP Ashish Dubey welcomed and felicitated the newly appointed members of the Advisory Committee and invited suggestions for the airport’s growth. Among the significant proposals made by committee members, Dr Jitendra Jamdar suggested naming the airport after the legendary Queen Rani Durgavati.
 
He also emphasised the need for improved greenery and landscaping. Dr Rajesh Dhirwani recommended administrative intervention to resolve issues delaying the construction of a four-lane road between Rani Durgavati University and the airport. Kamal Grover stressed the need for regulation of taxi services and fare control, while Tanushree Raje proposed setting up refreshment counters for passengers. Likewise, Advisory Committee member Shraddha Malpani suggested the installation of solar panels and improved digital connectivity. CA Ashish Mahawar advocated for sponsorship-driven development projects. Neetu Bhatia assured full cooperation from her side, while Prem Shankar Tiwari proposed the opening of shopping outlets. Raja Nagdev recommended introducing free Wi-Fi services and Vivek Goswami suggested improved parking regulations.
 
Rajeev Baderia called for initiating direct flights to Pune, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. Airport officials assured that VIP carcade spaces would be allocated. Addressing the meeting, MP Dubey stated that the suggestions and future goals of the Airport Advisory Committee will be vital in shaping Jabalpur’s progress. MP Dubey emphasised that passenger convenience and airport security will remain top priorities, adding that proper CCTV surveillance, fire stations and emergency preparedness are essential to ensuring safety and quality standards. Stressing the strategic significance of Jabalpur as a hub for defence, tourism, education and agriculture, he advocated for establishing tour operator counters to facilitate travel to national parks such as Pench, Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Panna. MP Ashish Dubey also encouraged the airport administration to host national-level events such as Yoga Day and Surya Namaskar at the premises to promote community participation. MP Dubey said that the credit for Jabalpur’s steady development belongs to its people, whose blessings continue to drive progress. Senior officials who attended the meeting include Airport Director R R Pandey, GM V K Suri, ATC Head Neeraj Gudwani, Deputy Director Ajay Sahu, Kamlesh Sharma and others.
