Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule during a review meeting on city issues at ‘Ramgiri’, on Sunday.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cleared the proposal for establishment of two sewage treatment plants (STPs) at the campus of VNIT and Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth as part of pollution abatement project of Naag River. On Sunday, Fadnavis along with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, too reviewed the ongoing development projects and teething issues troubling the citizens in second capital of the State. The meet was held at Ramgiri, the official residence of Chief Minister in Civil Lines.
Top bureaucrats and agencies working on various projects were present at the meeting where they briefed the two about various development works.
The main agenda was about the pending issue of STPs as the pollution abatement project is of prime importance.
The tenders for the works will be floated. Fadnavis directed officials to look at STP model at Dharavi where the land requirement was quite minimal. Same should be followed for STPs proposed at VNIT and agriculture varsity sites in city so that work can be completed faster.
TCS that is appointed as Consultant was directed at the meeting to submit the report about feasibility and drawing and cost about 2 STPs at the earliest.
CCTV: Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari informed CM and Gadkari that Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has taken up work relating to repairing of all malfunctioning CCTVs. A review of the Integrated Traffic Management System was taken and NMC said all the CCTVs will be functional within a period of 2 months.
‘Supply water at optimum level’
The burning issues of problems being faced by citizens as to drinking water supply figured prominently at the review meeting. NMC is facing trouble in ensuring efficient and adequate water supply with complaints from citizens multiplying in last few months.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari directed officials to ensure that drinking water supply from all elevated overhead tanks should be done at optimum level. He said citizens are complaining about low pressure supply and asked NMC officials to resolve the issue at the earliest.
As to preparing of new Development Plan (DP), the Chief Minister asked all development agencies to keep focus on future needs of city and citizens as Nagpur was now expanding very fast.
Another matter relating to non-restoration of dug up road also figured at the meeting and MSEDCL was told to act fast and ensure citizens do not face trouble. MSEDCL is engaged in laying overhead power cables underground and for the same, it is digging up roads at various places in city.
Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLAs Krishna Khopde and Pravin Datke, Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, Govindraj K, Shravan Hardikar, MD, Maha Metro, Dr Brijesh Dixit, MD, MSIDC, District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, NIT Chairman Sanjay Meena, Additional Municipal Commissioners Vasumana Pant, Vaishnavi B and Ajay Charthankar, and officials of NIT, Maha Metro, NHAI also were present at the meeting.
