NATIONAL Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Chhattisgarh Regional Office conducted a Regional Advisory Committee meeting with the theme ‘Tenancy Reforms’ on Thursday. Chief General Manager of NABARD Dr Gyanendra Mani chaired the meeting. Vice-Chancellor of IGKV Raipur Dr Girish Chandel, Director Agriculture Rahul Deo along with representatives from Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, Sericulture Department, KVIC, SLBC Convener and NGO partners were present. President of ISAE Dr D K Marothia was the special guest and subject matter expert. In his address, Dr Gyanendra Mani emphasised that there is an urgent need to adopt Model Agricultural Land Leasing Act as it will facilitate tenant farmers to get institutional credit. Tenant farmers will also be encouraged to make investment in agricultural land which will help in productivity enhancement. Dr Marothia, Dr Girish Chandel and Director Agriculture Rahul Deo also shared their views in the meeting.
