The monsoon is demonstrating its full might across Madhya Pradesh. Continuous moisture inflow from both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea is causing widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across most parts of the State. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for several districts on Saturday, with widespread downpours forecast for the next two days as well. ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ alert issued for these districts: According to the IMD, heavy rainfall, potentially up to 4.5 inches in 24 hours, is anticipated on Saturday in Bhind, Morena, Damoh, Jabalpur, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori and Anuppur. Besides, strong winds, reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph, are expected in parts of Gwalior, Chambal, and Western Madhya Pradesh.

The IMD has also issued alerts for the next two days: June 29: Heavy rain alerts are in place for Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Datia, and Bhind. Rainfall is also possible in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and other districts. June 30: An ‘Orange’ alert for very heavy rainfall has been issued for Damoh, Panna, and Katni. Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Ashoknagar, Satna, Jabalpur, and Umaria may experience heavy rainfall, while a ‘Yellow’ alert is in effect for other districts. Robust Rain System Active: According to meteorologists, the primary reasons for the rainfall are a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Odisha-West Bengal, coupled with an active cyclonic circulation over northeastern Madhya Pradesh.

Furthermore, a trough line extending from the northeastern Arabian Sea across southern Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh to the Bay of Bengal will contribute to heavy rainfall in the state for the next 2-3 days. Rainfall Across Almost All Districts on Friday: On Friday, all districts of Madhya Pradesh, except Bhind, recorded rainfall. Harda, Dewas, and Jhabua experienced very heavy rainfall, while heavy rainfall lashed Rajgarh, Dhar, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Sehore, Raisen, Khargone, Indore, Ujjain, Guna, Sagar, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Umaria, and Sidhi. Indore recorded the highest rainfall at 66.2 mm (2.60 inches). Bhopal and Mauganj witnessed continuous rain from morning. In Bhopal, a tree fell onto the road near the 1100 Quarter Temple, while continuous rain in Khargone caused the Sirwel waterfall on the Kunda River to swell. Wind speeds were also high, with 47 kmph recorded at

Indore Airport and 41 kmph at Gwalior Airport. Eastern Madhya Pradesh, including Singrauli, Sagar, and Shahdol, also experienced winds at 30-31 kmph. 38% Above Normal Rainfall Recorded: From June 1 to June 26, Madhya Pradesh has recorded 38% more rainfall than normal.
