Police are set to seek custody remand of Riya Yadav and other accused involved in the alleged rape of a minor at a pool party, aiming to deepen their investigation. Authorities suspect the involvement of a larger racket, as the accused were well-acquainted and frequently met at parties.
The probe, initially registered at TT Nagar Police Station, has been transferred to Bajaria police station under Inspector Shilpa Kaurav.
According to police, several aspects of the case remain under investigation, necessitating further questioning of the accused.
Those arrested include Riya Yadav, garment trader Mukesh Balchandani, his friend Kapil, Naved Khan, his cousin Anas, and self-proclaimed sorcerer Hanif Shah. The police are also searching for Mahi, a key figure who could provide critical details about the racket.
Efforts to trace Mahi are ongoing, but her address remains unknown, and she reportedly contacted Riya and others only via phone, never disclosing her location.
Investigations reveal that Riya, a resident of Karond living with her mother and stepfather, dropped out of Class 11 and began attending dance parties
before organising them with Mahi’s help. Her boyfriend, Naved Khan, a Class 8 dropout, works at a garment showroom. The group allegedly organised parties at various locations, raising suspicions of a co-ordinated network.
Police are working to uncover the full extent of the racket and Mahi’s role in it. The case has drawn attention due to the serious nature of the crime and the involvement of multiple individuals. Further interrogations and arrests are expected as the investigation progresses, with authorities focused on ensuring justice for the minor victim.
