The condition of roads in Bhopal’s Ashoka Garden area is rapidly deteriorating, causing significant inconvenience to local residents. The stretch from Ashoka Garden Tiraaha to the ward office in Ward No. 71 is in such disrepair that walking has become challenging. With the onset of the monsoon, widespread potholes and water-logging have made daily life miserable for the inhabitants. Local residents claim that road construction only occurs during election seasons. “Roads are built during election time, but as soon as elections are over, road repair work comes to a halt,” said one resident. Potholes on the roads leading towards the

Sarada Dubey office are so deep that commuters, both motorists and pedestrians, must exercise extreme caution with every step. Questions over official silence: Local residents have repeatedly raised this issue with the ward office and concerned authorities, but no concrete action has been taken so far. In this regard, ‘The Hitavada’ spoke with the ward’s Zonal Officer, Neeraj Kumar Namdev. Namdev stated that road and drain repairs are the responsibility of civil engineers, and he has already informed them about the work. He assured that work would commence soon. Citizens’ Key Demands: Residents are demanding that the administration immediately begin road repairs and construct drains to alleviate the water-logging problem during the monsoon season. They assert that if timely action is not taken, the road conditions could worsen further, increasing the risk of accidents.
