Gohalpur police have succeeded in apprehending four accused involved in more than 20 cases of stealing tyres and alloy wheels of parked cars and seized stolen tyres and wheels amounting to Rs 12 lakh from them. The arrested have been identified as Mannat alias Ani Srivastava (18), a resident of Shanta Mata Mandir area in Adhartal, Sanskar Patel (21), a resident near LNCT College, Bhedaghat,
 
Kunal Patel (22), a resident near Chandidham Temple, Surahi Building, Adhartal and Prince Srivas (19), a resident of Bahoriband, Katni and currently residing at Ukhari in Lordganj. Police investigations revealed that the gang operated mainly at night targeting parked vehicles for tyres and alloy wheels. In many cases, the accused used a grey Baleno car with black-tinted windows and ‘Doctor’ written on the windscreen to move undetected.
 
Investigating the series of theft cases with the same modus operandi, police scanned CCTV footage and noticed the same Baleno vehicle repeatedly appearing near crime scenes. Police activated its informers and based on a tip-off, suspects were traced and caught. During interrogation, all four accused admitted to stealing tyres and alloy wheels from nine vehicles in different areas.
 
On their identification, police have recovered 20 tyres and alloy wheels of various brands, 1 grey Baleno car used in the crimes, toolkits used to dismantle tyres amounting to Rs 12 lakh. The thieves were apprehend with dedicated efforts of SHO, Gohalpur Police Station Ritesh Pandey, SI, Kishore Bagdi and team members including Head Constables Devendra, Sharda Mishra and constables Lawkesh, Dinesh Gurjar, Pramod Rai, Ashish Tiwari, Alok Yadav, Gopal Rai, Abhiranjan Singh, Samarendra, Dinesh Dubey and Sanjay Singh.
