ARUSH Chitre won all his nine rounds to emerge champion in the 3rd Umesh Panbude Memorial Open Rapid Chess Tournament that was organised by Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA) in association with Dhanwate National College (DNC) at NDCA Hall, DNC Sports Complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar. Playing his last round with black pieces on top board, CM Chitre got the better of Sangharsh Aole, who finished with 6.5 points in his kitty. Shaunak Badole ended runner-up with eight points. Playing with light coloured pieces, he defeated Shourya Ambone on the second board in the final round. Total 9 rounds were played in the Swiss League pattern in the tournament.
 
The winner was awarded a rolling trophy along with a prize money of Rs 3500. Best Veteran title was won by Sanjay Bhange (6 points) and Best Female award was bagged by Gargi Harkare (5.5 points). Total Cash prize of Rs 15,000 to top 10 players, Best Veteran, Best Female and Trophy to top 2 boys and top 2 girls in each age category of Under 7, 9, 11 & 13, U15 were given. The cash prizes were sponsored by M/s Mahavir Mewawala, Nagpur and all the 24 mementoes are sponsored by a well known player of earlier days Nipun Chowrasia. Prizes were distributed at the hands of Deepal Chowrasia and Sheetal Panbude, Executive Member of NDCA and wife of late Umesh. Other guests who were present included KK Barat, Secretary, NDCA; Deepak Patrikar and IA Pravin Pantawane, the chief arbiter. The Chief Arbiter was assisted by FA Gayatri Panbude and Dinesh Kokate.
