In a firm move to improve cleanliness in the city, Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav has issued strict instructions to all concerned senior officials to maintain high standards in sanitation arrangements. Emphasizing zero tolerance for negligence, she made it clear that any compromise in cleanliness duties will not be accepted.
Acting though against negligence in cleanliness arrangements, the Municipal Commissioner has on Monday levied a huge penalty of Rs 25,11,437 on Shri Barfani Security Services, the agency responsible for sanitation in several city zones. The fine will be deducted from the contractor’s May 2025 bill.
Deputy Commissioner, Sambhav Ayachi and Health Officer, Sandeep Jaiswal informed that sanitation was reportedly disrupted in Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 14 and 15 due to deployment of fewer workers than the approved numbers.
They said the civic body had received plethora of complaints regarding the shortage, which led to a decline in service quality.
Municipal Commissioner Yadav, who personally monitors sanitation in the wards and cross-checks the presence of sanitation supervisors, found during recent inspections that the agency had not fulfilled its contractual obligation of deploying the approved workforce. Moreover, no serious effort was being made to improve operations. Hence, taking though stance against the negligence of concerned firm, she directed to impose heavy fine of Shri Barfani Security Services.
It may be noted that this is not the first time penalties have been imposed on the agency, Municipal Commissioner Yadav had previously taken similar action for violations.
