In an attempt to make Maharashtra accident-free, MSEDCL has launched its 20th anniversary celebrations with the theme ‘Zero Accident MSEDCL... Zero Accident Maharashtra...’ . The power distribution company and is observing ‘Electrical Safety Week’ from June 1 to 6.
To mark the event, Nagpur Circle of MSEDCL has undertaken a massive awareness drive on electrical safety across the region. The drive, which began on Monday, includes organising awareness camps, distributing pamphlets, and screening informative videos on electrical safety at residential areas, marketplaces, public transport hubs, and crowded areas.
The initiative aims to educate citizens, especially children, about the importance of electrical safety and the measures to prevent accidents.
MSEDCL has achieved significant success in reducing employee accidents in recent years.
However, accidents involving citizens and children remain a concern. To address this, the company has organised the ‘Electrical Safety Week’ to
raise awareness about electrical safety and reduce the number of accidents.
The awareness drive has received an overwhelming response from citizens. On Sunday, a ‘Run for Safety’ marathon was organised to kick-start the week-long celebrations. Additional Executive Engineer Parag Fate and his team conducted an awareness camp in Wadi, which was attended by 48 citizens.
On Monday, awareness camps were organised at various locations, including Shalinitai Meghe Hospital in Wanadongri, Rajeev Gandhi Udyan in Trimurti Nagar, and other public places. Pamphlets were distributed, and informative videos were screened to educate citizens about electrical safety.
Similar awareness drives are being conducted across Nagpur and Wardha districts. In Wardha, awareness camps have been organised at several places.
Dilip Dodke, Chief Engineer of Nagpur Circle, has appealed to all citizens to take electrical safety seriously, stating that it is a collective responsibility. By being aware and following safety rules, citizens can prevent accidents and create a safer community. MSEDCL has also started sending SMSs to its officers and employees to inform them about the Electrical Safety Week. In addition to this, important information on electrical safety is being emailed to power consumers to spread awareness about the issue.
