General insurance employees demand wages at par with LIC

THE Public Sector General Insurance (PSGI) company employees conducted a half day Dharna at all the Regional Centres and lunch hour demonstrations all over India on Friday. The general insurance employees were demanding wage revision on the lines of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). Uniform family pension of 30 per cent and employers contribution of 14 per cent to the National Pension System (NPS) among other demands. The call for the half day Dharna was given under the banner of Joint Forum of Trade Unions and Associations (JFTU). At Nagpur, the Dharna was organised in front of Regional Office of National Insurance Company Limited situated at Fidwi Tower, Mount Road, Sadar.
 
About 100 employees participated in the Dharna. Also, the employees shouted slogans and condemned the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and General Insurers (Public Sector) Association of India (GIPSA), for not considering the demand of wage revision at par with LIC of India. Prashant Dixit, General Secretary, General Insurance Employees’ Union, Western Zone, condemned the attitude of DFS and GIPSA on the legitimate demands of employees. He also informed that on July 9, 2025 all the Central Trade Unions will observe ‘One day nationwide strike’ against the anti labour, anti workers, anti public sector policies of the Government.
 
Rajendra Saroj of National Insurance Company Officers Association condemned GIPSA management for not following the matter of wage revision at par with LIC. Pradeep Dharamthok, President, GIEU WZ, said that employees should oppose the anti workers policy of the Government. Bhushan Deshmukh conducted the meeting and said that the employees will also hold demonstrations on July 2. Large number of employees from the nook and corner of the city participated in the demonstrations. Chandrakant Deshpande, Suhas Thool, Shailesh Bhure, Ashish Khutemate, Prajwalit Satpute, Vikram Vandile, Homraj Adey, Sunil Tambe and Yogesh Junghare had taken efforts for success of the demonstrations.
