Addressing the gathering during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Vardhaman Urban Co-operative Bank held here in the city on Saturday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that cooperative sector banks have played a vital role in establishing banks credibility among the masses.
Fadnavis noted that Maharashtra and Gujarat have the highest number of urban cooperative banks, which have contributed significantly to the States’ economic development.
Fadnavis emphasized that these banks have helped build trust in banking among the general public and highlighted Vardhaman Bank’s achievements, including its zero per cent NPA and consistent profit distribution of 15 per cent.
He further praised the bank’s professionalism and customer-centric approach, stating that it has established a robust financial system.
Fadnavis also acknowledged the bank’s commitment to providing banking services to priority sectors, which has contributed to the region’s economic growth.
Minister of State for Cooperation Dr Pankaj Bhoyar, praised the bank’s progress and highlighted the importance of cooperative banks in the country’s economic development. Former Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Sancheti and Chairman of Vardhaman Urban Co-operative Bank Anil Parikh also addressed the gathering.
Prominent personalities present at the event included MLA Krishna Khopde, MLA Pravin Datke, former MLA Sagar Meghe; Vice President of the bank Ashwin Shah; Chairman of Pagaria Group Ujjwal Pagaria; Shivkishan Agrawal, Vidarbha Co-op Bank Chairman Ravindra Durgkar, and former Maharashtra Minister Anees Ahmed.
