The citizens of Nagpur have been complaining about the availability of few public spaces where they can spend their time with their families. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has finally answered their demands and have given administrative approval to the proposal of an ‘Adventure Park for children’ at Lata Mangeshkar garden in Surya Nagar. NMC has approved expenditure of Rs 8 crore 79 lakh for the project.
The Lata Mangeshkar Garden site has been cleared following the demolition of the old auditorium stadium. Additionally, Two acres of land have been allocated for children's play activities.
Dr Abhijit Chaudhari, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator has directed the development of an adventure park with 15 different types of thrilling activities. Relevant agencies have been consulted and detailed plans shared.
The adventure sports activities include Zip line rope way, climbing wall, Rappelling wall, Bicycle ropeway, Suspension bridge, Trampoline park, Net climbing, rope climbing among others. A proposal worth Rs 8.79 crore has been prepared for civil works, landscaping, and the creation of the adventure park. Of this, Rs 4.58 crore is earmarked for construction and greenery, while Rs 4.20 crore is projected for the adventure setup.
The project, seen as vital for urban beautification and youth wellness, has received special funding. Planned infrastructure includes fencing, wiring, pathways, office and ticket rooms, smart toilets, and landscaping with lawns and decorative plants. Dr Abhijit Chaudhari has granted administrative approval, and the work will soon commence through a formal tender process.
