The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has approved a budget of Rs 6.89 crore for the construction of a state-of-the-art dog shelter in Wathoda. This modern facility aims to improve the management and care of stray dogs across the city.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijit Chaudhari, the civic body has taken this step to strengthen the current infrastructure, which lacks adequate facilities for proper animal care.

Spread over three acres, the shelter will accommodate up to 200 dogs. It will feature segregated shelters for dogs and puppies, isolation sheds, hygiene systems, a veterinary hospital, play areas, a kitchen, storage units, and other essential facilities.
The architectural design has been prepared by Shripad Dubey, with project management assigned to Axino Capital Services and Shripad Dubey Architects. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the quality of life for stray animals in the city and contribute to animal welfare efforts.
