There were 10 people in the auto. They were going to Naigadhi in Mauganj district after taking a holy dip in the Ganga river at Prayagraj. According to police, the truck (UP 45 AT 9728) was passing through NH 30 from Prayagraj to Rewa carrying cement sheets. According to eyewitnesses, the truck was moving at a very high speed and it went out of control and overturned on the auto. After the truck overturned, the driver left the truck and ran away, all the 10 people sitting in the auto were trapped under the truck.

As a matter of fact, Sohagi Valley is also called the Valley of Death. Frequent road accidents have occurred here earlier also. Questions are also being raised that the goods were loaded in excess of the prescribed weight limit, whereas there is a provision for weighing at the toll plaza built by NHAI and fine is imposed if the toll exceeds the limit, yet the toll plaza people take some extra money and do not take any action and such serious accidents happen.
After the accident, there was a jam at Sohagi toll post, the jam was as long as three kilometers. Sohagi valley has become the focal point of accidents, every day some serious accident happens here, but no effective steps are taken for this, technical fault in road construction and condition of the road are causing accidents.
