“Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj inspires the Indian Army, and the leadership of the country to perform brave acts like recent Operation Sindoor,” thundered Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi, Member of Parliament (MP) and national Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while speaking at the ‘Hindu Samrajya Din Utsav’ organised by Shivaji Maharaj Kruti Samiti, to mark the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The programme was held at Shivaji Nagar garden on Friday. Nandkishor Sarda, Chairman of the Shivaji Maharaj Kruti Samiti presided over the programme. Former MP Ajay Sancheti also shared the stage during the programme.

Dr Trivedi, in his address, equated the bravery of Indian armed forces with that of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. “Just like the Shivaji Maharaj had rocked the then biggest force in the world, the Indian armed forces have impressed the world with its precision and bravery,” he said. Emphasising the extent of loss India had inflicted on Pakistan in recent conflict, Dr Trivedi said, “Indian attacks were so intense that an American plane was in Pakistan to check if there have been nuclear leaks after the attacks.” The BJP national spokesperson called Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj pioneer of the countries journey towards ‘Swarajya’.

“The grand vision and spirit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that he had for ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ trickled down to the Independence movement,” said Dr Trivedi. He added that the declaration ‘Swarajya is my birth right’ by Bal Gangadhar Tilak was also inspired by same spirit. Quoting from the book ‘Hind Swaraj’ authored by Mahatma Gandhi in 1909, he stated that the idea of Mahatma Gandhi of ‘Swarajya’ was also inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Dr Trivedi also said that the values of ‘Swarajya’ by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj are reflected in five resolution ‘Amrit Kal’. He said, “The struggle of self-realisation in ‘Swarajya’ continues even in Amrit Kal. We as citizens have responsibility to realise that self-realisation and establish the Swarajya through our efforts.” Mentioning the qualities that made Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj one of the great rulers, Dr Trivedi said, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj not only faught with Mughals on land but also forced Britishers and Portuguese through his attacks with his navy to pay the taxes. He is one of the few rulers in India who fought multiple enemies on multiple fronts.”

The Parliamentarian informed the gathering that to pay tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s naval prowess, the Central Government has replaced the Union Jack flag from Indian Navy’s flag with octagonal shape inspired by royal seal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He also said that the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not only good administrator but also a visionary leader. Dr Parinay Fuke, Pravin Datke, both MLAs; Ravi Bhusari, RSS functionary; Sanjay Bangale, former corporator; and others also were present at the programme. Shrikant Deshpande conducted the proceedings. The programme concluded with ‘Shiv Aarati’ sung by Niranjan Bobde and Gauri Shinde.
