Two teenagers lost their lives after their motorcycle collided with a speeding pick-up vehicle near Tukdoji Square on Manewada Raod under Ajni Police Station limits in the early hours of Friday. Both youths were employed in catering services and were returning home after work when the accident occurred. Neither of the two was wearing a helmet which resulted in grievous head injuries that ultimately led to their deaths. According to police, the accident took place around 12.45 am on the road stretch from Manewada to Tukdoji Square, near Dnyaneshwar Nagar Gate. The deceased have been identified as Nitin Rajendra Katre (18), a resident of Plot No. 83, Balaji Nagar, Kalamna, and his friend Komal Bhagwati Yadav (17), who lived next door.
 
The duo was riding on Nitin’s Pulsar motorcycle when the two-wheeler collided head-on with a pick-up vehicle that was reportedly heading towards its driver’s residence. Following the crash, the pick-up vehicle driver fled the scene. Following the impact, both the teenagers were thrown off the motorcycle which caused them to suffer serious injuries. They were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared them dead on arrival. Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver of the pick-up vehicle under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 134, 177, and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
