The prestigious ‘SKOCH Award’ has been announced to Sanjita Mohapatra, Chief Executive Officer of Amravati Zilla Parishad, for her outstanding and innovative initiative ‘Mission Melghat 28’. The project was recognised for its significant contribution toward reducing malnutrition, infant mortality, and maternal deaths in the remote Melghat region.
Launched in January 2022, ‘Mission Melghat 28’ has made a remarkable impact in Dharni and Chikhaldara tehsils, leading to a reduction in malnutrition rates, a notable rise in institutional deliveries, and a decline in maternal and infant mortality since its implementation.
Out of over 1,000 projects nominated across the country, ‘Mission Melghat 28’ was shortlisted as one of the top initiatives.
ZP CEO Sanjita Mohapatra successfully presented the project before the ‘SKOCH Award’ jury on March 26, 2025.
Following this, the project underwent a rigorous evaluation process and secured a place among the top 50 semi-finalists, eventually making it to the top 20 finalists.
The final announcement was made on June 6, 2025, where ‘Mission Melghat 28’ was declared one of the winners of the ‘SKOCH Award’.
The official award ceremony will be held in New Delhi in September 2025.
The ‘SKOCH Award’ is one of India’s highest honours for recognising excellence in governance, inclusive growth, health, education, environment, digital transformation, and grassroots development.
The award is a testament to CEO Sanjita Mahapatra’s visionary leadership, dedication, and deep commitment to public service.
This recognition brings great pride to Amravati district, with congratulations pouring in from all quarters.
