RAIPUR,
The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday, took several significant decisions aimed at boosting the state’s agricultural sector and promoting long-term economic development. Among the key approvals was the expansion of the Krishak Unnati Yojana to include more crops and the establishment of new funds for fiscal stability.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, addressing media persons at Mantralaya, informed that the most significant agricultural decision involves the amendment and expansion of the Krishak Unnati Yojana. Previously primarily benefiting paddy farmers, the scheme will now extend input assistance to farmers cultivating pulses, oilseeds, maize, and other crops.
Farmers in the state who grow pulses, oilseeds, maize, and other crops will now also receive the benefits of input assistance under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, as the Chhattisgarh Cabinet has extended its scope,” Sao stated. Under the amended scheme, registered farmers in Kharif 2024 who cultivated and sold paddy at the support price will still be eligible for input assistance if they choose to grow pulses, oilseeds, or maize instead of paddy in Kharif 2025.
In a move to strengthen the state’s financial management, the Cabinet approved the formation of the Chhattisgarh Pension Fund. This fund, governed by the draft of Regulation Bill-2025, aims to ensure better financial management of future pension payment obligations for Chhattisgarh government officers and employees upon retirement.
The Cabinet also approved the draft Bill-2025 for the establishment of the Chhattisgarh Growth and Stability Fund. This fund is designed to manage and regulate the state’s finances to ensure long-term economic development and fiscal stability. “This will ensure proper management of abnormal increases or decreases in state revenue and financial security during economic recession,”
Sao explained. To enhance the state’s logistics sector, the Cabinet approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh State Logistics Policy-2025.
This policy is envisioned to develop Chhattisgarh as a logistics hub and strengthen its export infrastructure.
“Taking advantage of the geographical location of the state, national and multinational companies in the logistics sector and e-commerce will be attracted to invest in setting up logistics hubs,” Sao said.
He added that the policy would increase the state’s storage capacity, providing affordable storage facilities to industries, traders, and farmers, and ultimately promoting trade, investment, and economic development through reduced logistics costs.
The policy also encourages the establishment of Dry Ports/Inland Container Depots, providing micro, small, and medium enterprises and local producers access to export markets. It aims to create an ecosystem for the export of the state’s abundant forest resources, forest produce, and medicinal products, creating new employment opportunities and establishing Chhattisgarh as a leader in the logistics and export sectors. Furthering the ease of doing business and living, the Cabinet approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill-2025, which aims to decriminalize provisions of certain state laws.
This is expected to reduce unnecessary court cases and associated expenses. The Cabinet also cleared seven schemes under the Redevelopment Scheme. These schemes focus on the systematic development and proper utilization of previously constructed and dilapidated government buildings and unused government land. The approved locations include Shanti Nagar Raipur, BTI Shankar Nagar Raipur, Kailash Nagar Rajnandgaon, Chandni Chowk Phase-2 Jagdalpur, Civil Line Kanker, Club Para Mahasamund, and Katghora Korba. Finally, a one-time amendment was approved to fix the minimum qualifying service for promotion from Upper Division Registration Clerk/Record Keeper to Class III Executive, Deputy Registrar under the Commercial Tax (Registration) Department from five years to two years.
