Doctors, blood disorder patients happy about e-Rakt Kosh scheme

Most oncologists, pathologists, families of patients who are diagnosed with blood cancer, thalassemia and sickle cell anemia across Chhattisgarh are happy with the new initiative, e-Rakt kosh, of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Under this initiative, e-Rakt Kosh, the union ministry of health and family welfare is developing national online platform for blood bank management and blood availability information of all blood groups and special mention of rare as well as negative blood groups.
 
The setup of e-Rakt Kosh by centre will help hospital staffs to arrange blood in critical cases and also families of patients who are diagnosed with cancer, sickle cell anemia and thalassemia who need blood transfusion at regular intervals of time. According to the information obtained by health department, this integration of union health department will allow those require blood frequently to access a centralised system developed under the National Health Mission (NHM) providing details on blood banks, blood availability and blood donation camps across all parts of the nation including Chhattisgarh. Thus it will patients of blood disorder, pregnant women and accidental cases find blood and blood banks and assist blood banks manage their stocks as well as donors. At present, relatives of patients have to struggle a lot and visit different blood banks to get information about the availability and stock of blood. But with the proper setup of e-Rakt Kosh, the relatives will not need to visit different blood banks to get information about blood availability. As here, with click on website of e-Rakt Kosh, they will be able to get information of blood availability and then collect blood from the blood bank quickly.
 
Officials of the health department informed that with the assistance of Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute of Immunohaematology (NIIH) and four other parenting institutes, union ministry of health department is making e-Rakt Kosh and it will be materialized into August 2025 before Independence Day. Dr JP Meshram, Senior Doctor of Pathology said that it will be proved a boon to patients of cancer, thalassemia and sickle cell anemia who need blood regularly. Families of patients do lots of struggle to get blood units to undergo blood transfusion of patients properly. Dr M Roy, Oncologist stated that it is a good initiative and hope that it will be worked systematically so that patients will not face health complications due to delay in collection of blood units, she added. Families of patients with blood disorder asserted that it will really prove a very helpful for them to arrange blood quickly and on time.
