On February 6, a 48-year-old man filed a complaint at Habibganj police station stating that his minor daughter had left home without informing anyone on February 2 at 7 pm, after being scolded by her mother for not attending coaching classes. Family members searched among relatives and in the vicinity but found no trace. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case of abduction and initiated an investigation. Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra, Additional Police Commissioner Avdhesh Goswami, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Shashank Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rashmi Dubey Agrawal, and Assistant Police Commissioner Sujeet Tiwari, a special team was formed led by Habibganj Police Station In-charge Sanjeev Kumar Choukse.

Utilising informer networks and technical resources, the team successfully traced and rescued the minor from Fatehpur, Sikar, Rajasthan, on July 5. In her statement recorded in court, the girl revealed that she had gone to her friend Ankita’s place in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. Ankita, a resident of 12 Number Multi in Bhopal, asked her sister-in-law Durga Kasve to produce her before the police. Durga handed the girl over to her acquaintance Kusum Vishwakarma, who kept her at her home in Dwarka Nagar, Bajaria, from April 19. Later, on June 29,Kusum, along with her associates Roshni, Pradeep Jain, and Sunil, took the girl to Aron in Guna, where they sold her to Narendra Kumar for money and arranged her marriage through an affidavit. The police arrested Kusum Vishwakarma (47) and Narendra Kumar Dara alias Modi (25), who were then presented in court and subsequently sent to jail. Kusum already has five criminal cases registered against her in various police stations in Bhopal. Narendra’s criminal record is being investigated. The search for Durga, Roshni, Pradeep Jain, Sunil, and other absconding accused is ongoing.
