Continuous heavy rain in Nagpur district has caused severe flooding which led to the death of two people and cutting off several villages. Rescue teams and local administration are working in flood-affected areas to ensure safety and provide help to stranded people. In one incident, a man Anil Hanumant Panpatte (35), from Borgaon village in Kalmeshwar tehsil, was swept away in a flooded drain near the village around 7.30 am. His search is still going on. Earlier around 4 am, an 18-year-old boy Kartik Shivshankar Ladse from Uppalwadi, Nagpur, was also washed away in floodwaters near Borgaon Ugle village in the Kalmeshwar area. His body has been recovered. According to Superintendent of Police Dr Harssh Poddar, 71 villages in rural parts of Nagpur district have been cut off due to the continuous rainfall and opening of 35 flood gates of Gosekhurd dam.

Rescue operations are being carried out with the help of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to reach people who are stuck or in danger. In Ramtek police station area, water is flowing over the bridge in Hamlapuri village on the Chacher–Aaroli Road, as well as in Chinchala village. Barricades and warning signs have been placed to stop people from using the bridge. In the Parseoni area, a nullah is overflowing in Kalbhairav Peth, and barricades are being set up there too. In the Deolapar area, no overflow has been reported so far, and the Totaladoh dam is currently at 57 per cent storage capacity. In the Aroli area, a nullah is flowing over a bridge on the Kirnapur–Dudhala Road and also in Mahalgaon village. Barricades have been placed to stop traffic and prevent accidents. In Kanhan and Khaparkheda police station areas, there are no major problems at the moment. However, in Mauda’s Khedi village, one family had to be rescued.

The tehsildar, police and other staff were present, and a rescue boat was brought in from a nearby village to help. Villages like Veltur - Tekapur, Bori Sadachar, and Seoni have been cut off, but the situation is under control due to the opening of dam gates, which is helping the water to flow forward. Police officials spoke to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), who said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is on standby. In the Bhivapur police area, 18 villages have been disconnected due to water levels rising. In Umred police station limits, villages like Piraya Amboli, Tirkhura, Thana, and Brahmani have been cut off. In the Kuhi area, about eight villages are facing similar disconnection. In Bela police station limits, villages such as Kalamna, Paoni, Singori, Chargaon, and Besur have been cut off due to water flowing over the bridges. The gates of the Rama Dam are expected to be opened today, but no evacuation is needed at the moment. Police patils in all areas are on high alert and regularly visiting the affected locations to ensure public safety, said a police official. In MIDC and Butibori areas, police patils are also on alert. In Butibori, Sindhiwere village has been cut off due to water overflow from a bridge. No large-scale evacuation of people or animals is needed so far, said the official.
