To showcase this enchanting landscape and boost tourism, the district administration has launched a special ‘Monsoon Trek’ programme, inviting adventurers and nature lovers to explore its verdant forests, majestic waterfalls, and captivating mountains.
The district administration, in collaboration with ‘Unexplored Bastar’, is organising trekking events at various picturesque locations throughout the monsoon season.
Trained local guides will lead tourists to iconic natural attractions, offering insights into the region’s unique ecosystem and cultural heritage.
For those planning a weekend getaway, Bastar’s natural waterfalls, including Chitrakote, Tirathgarh, Chitradhara, Mendrighoomar, Tamradhoomar, Bijaksa, and Michnar, offer not only stunning natural beauty but also ideal conditions for monsoon trekking and photography.
Connectivity to Bastar is possible through rail, air and bus services. Daily train services operate from Visakhapatnam to Bastar. Daily flights are available from Hyderabad, and twice a week from Delhi. Regular bus services connect Jagdalpur (Bastar) with Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Raipur, Bilaspur, and Ambikapur.

The meticulously planned circuits offer a diverse range of experiences.
Chitrakote Circuit, which is a 2 km trek from Chitrakote Dandami Resort to Karbahar (Mini Goa) includes boating, waterfall views, darshan of Shivling, and an aerial perspective of the waterfall.
Mendri Ghumar-Indravati River Trek is a 3 km trek involves river crossing in the forest area. Mendri Ghumar-Tamrad Ghumar, a 7 km descent (150 feet downward trek) leads to crocodile sightings, sand beaches, bird watching, and natural swimming areas. Tirtha to Bijakasa Trek, a 2.5 km trek featuring boating, bonfire, tribal food, a visit to Tirtha village, and insights into local mythological stories.
Bijakasa to Mendri Trek, an 8 km journey offering waterfall views, valley vistas, and opportunities for spotting wild animals and birds. Michnar Hills Area, dedicated trekking opportunities will be organised here. Kanger Valley National Park Circuit includes trekking to Topar Waterfall, Madwa Waterfall, and Shivganga Trekking, offering views of waterfalls and wildlife.
Kailash Cave & Gudiya Padar is a 4 km village-to-waterfall trek, exploring Kailash Lake and Gudiya Padar, with chances for jungle wildlife and bird watching. Tirathgarh Waterfall to Ranidarha Waterfall is a 3 km trek through dense forests. Malkev Trek is an 8 km trek from Madarkonta to Tirathgarh through forests and Machkot Area, planned tours to Tiriya, known for its lake and waterfalls, and the forests of Machkot is being organised.
