Jabalpur has once again secured a major national achievement by earning a perfect score in National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) Survey 2024-25. Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) received 100 out of 100 marks, reflecting the city’s substantial and sustained improvement in air quality.
Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav informed that a series of comprehensive initiatives have been take out across the city to combat air pollution. These include the construction of well-paved roads, development of public parks, efficient solid waste management, extensive tree plantation drives, installation of paver blocks and regular street washing and watering. These measures have significantly contributed to cleaner air and improved public awareness.
She said Sanskardhani has emerged as a national leader in clean air management and this is a proud moment for every Jabalpurian. She added that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India has recognised the city’s efforts and will be allocating special funds to Jabalpur for the year 2025-26 to continue these improvements.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has verified the data and confirmed a remarkable reduction in Particulate Matter (PM10) levels in 2024-25 compared to the previous year.
The number of days with “good” air quality has also increased significantly, which CPCB has termed as a “very good” improvement.
When compared to the base year of 2019-20, Jabalpur has maintained a steady decline in pollutant levels and a marked increase in clean air days. The city scored 75 points in this long-term comparison, further demonstrating consistent progress.
This recognition is part of the National Clean Air Programme, which supports large cities with populations over 10 lakh that
show measurable improvement in air quality. Jabalpur’s success not only ensures healthier air for its citizens but also sets a benchmark for other urban centers, she added. Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh and Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav expressed gratitude to denizens for their positive participation and support. They also lauded the dedicated efforts of officers and employees whose contributions have made this milestone possible.
