In a brazen burglary incident, the locked residence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Ravi Mishra, was targeted by unidentified thieves in Bishrampur’s Officer Colony. According to police sources, the burglars made away with silver idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh, eleven silver coins, and around Rs 40,000 in cash after forcibly entering the house. The incident occurred at Mishra’s double-storey house located behind the GM Bungalow in Bishrampur. Though Ravi Mishra has been posted in Raipur for several months, his parents continued to stay at the residence. However, two days prior to the incident, the elderly couple had also left for Raipur, leaving the house locked.

Exploiting the opportunity, burglars broke open the main gate’s lock and gained entry into the house. Inside, the culprits ransacked rooms, opened storage beds, and damaged cupboards to search for valuables. The exact value of the stolen items is yet to be confirmed as Ravi Mishra has been informed and is on his way from Raipur to Bishrampur to take stock of the situation. Bishrampur police reached the crime scene immediately after receiving the information and launched an investigation. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Abhishek Paikara told media persons that a detailed probe is underway from all angles. “We have called in a forensic team and dog squad to assist with the investigation. Every possible clue is being examined to identify the culprits,” Paikara added. Police have registered a case and further investigation is in progress.
