CENTRE Point School, Dabha girls emerged champions in the Under-17 Subroto Cup (Rural) Football Tournament at SFS College ground on Monday.
CPS girls got the better of St Ursula’s girls via tie-breaker. After a goalless regulation period, CPS pipped St Ursula’s 3-2. For the winners, Harshita Rathod, Lavanya Kharabe and Saisha Ramteke found the target while for the runners-up team, Akshara Sarve and Priya Durwa converted their spot kicks.
In the hardline final, St Vincent Pallotti edged past St Joseph’s Convent also via shoot-out 4-3 to take the third place.
Sejal Rode, Dhanvi Sonwane, Serah Deopatra and Navya Suryawanshi scored for Pallotti while Joseph’s Ayesha, Anushka Tekade and Sharwani Walde beat the rival keeper.
In the U-15 boys quarter-finals (NMC), Bhavan’s Trimurti Nagar (Arneya Raut 18th) beat St John’s HS (State) 1-0; St John’s Public School (Tanmay, Rajveer, Arquam, Nityanshu, Kartikeya, Ojas) bt Centre Point School, Katol Road (Arjun, Ayaan, Ritul, Sanjay, Kartik) 6-5 (via tie-breaker); SFS Sadar (K Deshbhartar) bt CPS, Wardhaman Nagar 1-0 and Bishop Cotton (State; Santosh Singh, Adnan Khan, Md Maaz, Neel Gotwat) bt Bhavan’s Civil Lines (Divyam Jariya, Shourya Hake, Athang Bagde) 4-3 (via tie-breaker).
In the U-17 boys quarter-finals (NMC), SFS, Sadar (Rudra Yadav 20th; Priyanshu, Zaid Khan, Rafay Khan, Rudra) bt St Vincent Pallotti (Sameep Dhonge 4th; Piyush Yadav, Sameep, Reyhaant Chokhandare) 4-3 (via tie-breaker after 1-1 regulation time); CPS, Dabha (Arsh Siddique, Sanskar Gaigore, Sahil Geherwal) bt Bhavan’s Civil Lines 3-0; Narayan Vidyalayam (Namai Jaiswal 12th) bt CPS, KR 1-0 and St John’s (State; Atif Ali, Beryl Enamuel, Aniket Tekam) bt Bhavan’s Shrikrishna Nagar (Vansh Ponda, Atharva Wanjari) 3-2 (via tie-breaker).
