In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and ensuring greater transparency, the Railway Board has implemented a significant change in the reservation chart preparation system. Effective from midnight of July 15 and 16, 2025, this new system will be applicable across the Jabalpur Division, where the first reservation chart for trains will now be prepared 8 hours prior to the train's scheduled departure time.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Dr Madhur Verma, explained that earlier, the first chart was prepared 4 hours before departure. Under the new system, this time window has been extended to 8 hours, which will allow passengers on the waiting list or holding RAC (Reservation against Cancellation) tickets to know the status of their berth well in advance. Dr Verma further informed that the key objective behind this change is to help passengers better plan their journey by knowing the confirmation status of their tickets earlier. This innovation is expected to significantly enhance passenger satisfaction and streamline the reservation process.
