Amravati City Police raided a Fake Marriage Party, organised at Area 91, a high-end restaurant bar in Shankar Nagar on Sunday night. The party allegedly involved 175 to 180 participants, many of whom were underage. Police have six persons involved in holding the event. The police detained 40 underage boys, and medical tests confirmed that at least four were under the influence of alcohol. While around 40 underage girls were present, no medical tests were conducted on them at the time. According to the Crime Branch Unit-2 of Amravati City Police, around 80 minors (boys and girls) were part of the gathering, with many observed consuming alcohol. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Area 91 and found several intoxicated youths, some even asleep on the stairways due to excessive consumtion of alcohol. Police have filed charges against the bar owner, Anand Raju Bhele (33), the main organiser, Sam Hemant Bajaj (19), and four of his accomplices.

Charges include violations of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and the Maharashtra Police Act. Five liquor bottles worth Rs 3,700 were seized from the venue. The raid was led by Police Inspector Sandeep Chavan and Assistant Police Inspector Mahesh Ingole, along with their team from Crime Branch Unit-2. Police informed that the ‘Fake Marriage Party’ was the theme of the celebration mimicking a traditional wedding without an actual marriage. The event at Area 91 was the first day of a planned three to four-day celebration. The organisers charged Rs 500 per male participant, with free entry for girls, a promotional tactic that has raised concerns about the event’s intent and safety due to its gender-based incentives.

Authorities expressed significant concern regarding the large number of underage youths attending such events, with most attendees aged between 18 and 23. Police obse-rved widespread alcohol consumption, smoking, and dancing amo-ng teenagers, many of whom were reportedly intoxicated. A senior police officer stated, ‘That so many minors were out late at night in such an environment is alarming. We urge parents to be more vigilant and actively monitor their children's whereabouts and activities.” Further probe is on.
