MAYUR Gupta clinched the 106th edition of Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Nagpur District Chess Association at NDCA Hall, Sports Complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar. In all, 59 players including 25 ELO rated players of various ages, participated in this tournament.
Total seven rounds were played in which Gupta garnered six points to emerge champion. Bhavik Chaudhary also collected six points but was pipped by Gupta via tie-breaker.
Akshay Patil finished third with 5.5 points in his kitty.
Total cash prize of Rs 5,000 was distributed among top 10 players of the tournament. The prizes were distributed by IA Pravin Pantawane Chief Arbiter and Diensh Kokate, Assistant Arbiter.
