RTMNU signs MoU with MIDC Industries Assn

With an aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), in collaboration with the MIDC Industries Association (MIA), Hingna, will be launching a pioneering course - BCom in Corporate Administration. To take the initiative of Acting Vice Chancellor Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware to its logical conclusion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by RTMNU and MIA. Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware, and P Mohan, President of MIA, at the University meeting hall signed MoU and exchanged the documents.

As per the MoU, this industry-integrated course will program essential aspects of office and industrial administration, accounting, and industrial processes, combining academic instruction with real-time industrial exposure. The program is crafted to provide students with both theoretical understanding and practical skills, making them industry-ready upon graduation. “The curriculum of the program is being designed in a manner where the traditional part will be avoided with the nclusion of more practical aspects. The curriculum will help students become employable.

This is a complete job-oriented course, which will benefit the industries concerned too as they would get ready-to-work trained employees,” Dr Khode-Chaware told The Hitavada. A highlight of this program is the mandatory industrial training of 1 to 2 months every semester, ensuring students gain hands-on experience and are exposed to real-time industrial operations across various sectors. This initiative is expected to produce a skilled workforce aligned with the evolving needs of regional industries, addressing employability challenges and promoting sustainable industrial growth. The program facilitates joint development of industry-relevant curriculum and paid apprenticeship opportunities during final year. RTMNU will provide academic infrastructure, coordinate faculty involvement, manage student records, and issue certificates upon successful completion. “Our role is to make students professionally self-sufficient under NEP 2020.

This initiative with MIA will provide students the much needed industry experience along with classroom knowledge,” added Dr Khode-Chaware. MIA President P Mohan stated, “We are proud to partner with RTMNU. This is an important step in bridging the real gap between industry and education. This initiative will create a model in the field of higher education and will inspire other universities and industrial associations in the country to integrate education with industry.” MIA will facilitate practical training, recommend industry trainers, organise hands-on sessions at industrial units, and support student placement and post-program employment. The MoU outlines a self-financed model, with 20% of admission revenue retained by the University for overheads.

A Monitoring Committee will oversee the program, co-chaired by senior RTMNU officials and MIA representatives, meeting at least twice annually to evaluate student progress, financials, and overall program impact. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Kondawar, Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, Commerce and Management Dean Dr Medha Kanetkar, Director of Knowledge Resource Centre Dr Vijay Khandal, Head of the Department Dr Anant Deshmukh, Programme Coordinator Dr Rahul Kharabe, Training and Placement Officer Dr Bhushan Mahajan.
