These are the vignettes of development -- of Smart City Nagpur --- of Maharashtra Second Capital Nagpur -- of city of great leaders ! It is in this city that lakes are being destroyed. It is in this city that rivers are being toyed with. It is in this city that promises are made but are rarely followed. To be sure, the city offers countless such sights -- day in and day out. To be sure, the people are patient and willing to wait for good days to come. But to be sure, good days are only in speeches and promises -- and never in reality. And yet, the people see no sense of accountability on part of those in charge of the management of the city.

 

 

All those big shots -- they indulge in blame-game : X blames Y. A blames B. M blames N, O, P ...! The bigger shots among them issue instructions to immediate corrections of the wronged designs or delayed projects etc etc etc ...! They also commit crores of rupees to alter the bad designs of fly-overs and squares etc etc etc. They also allow projects with massive investments to go abandoned (of course unofficially) -- like the Futala Lake Musical Fountain Project. ... Vignettes of development !!! What should people expect to happen ? This question we must ask. If we fail to do that, we will be failing ourselves. n
