Governor Deka presents Utkrisht MLA Samman to Bohra, Baghel

GOVERNOR of Chhattisgarh Ramen Deka honoured Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Pandariya legislative assembly constituency Bhawna Bohra and Congress MLA from Bastar legislative assembly constituency Lakheshwar Baghel ‘Utkrisht Vidhayak Samman-2024’ in “Utkrishtata Alankaran Samaroh” held at Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Secretariat premises on Wednesday evening. Senior journalist Rakesh Pandey was felicitated with ‘Utkrisht Sansadiya Patrakar Samman-2024’ in the function while senior journalist Yogesh Mishra was honoured with “Utkrisht Electronic Media Reporter-2024” in the function. Cameraman Vishwaprakash Puraina was also felicitated with the “Utkrisht Electronic Cameraman Samman-2024” in the function. They were honoured with memento and prize. Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh presided over the function.
 
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was present as a special invitee in the function. Speaking at the function, Governor Ramen Deka underscored the critical role of the Legislative Assembly as the “temple of democracy,” urging its members to prioritise public interest and address citizens’ hopes and dreams. He called upon MLAs to work diligently for the welfare of the people. Governor Deka lauded the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, recognizing it as one of the finest in the country and extended his congratulations to the MLAs, journalists, and cameramen who were felicitated at the event. “To keep the spirit of our parliamentary democracy alive, it is necessary to respectfully follow parliamentary traditions and procedures,” Governor Deka stated. He emphasized that the true significance of any legislative house lies in public welfare.
 
“For the overall development of the country and the state, it is necessary that all public representatives rise above party boundaries and work unitedly in a spirit of coordination and cooperation,” he added. Drawing from his extensive political and parliamentary experience, Governor Deka highlighted the profound responsibility of elected representatives. “An elected public representative is not just a person, he represents the aspirations, needs and beliefs of the people of his constituency,” he asserted. He stressed that it is an MLA’s “ultimate duty to always be alert, sensitive and dedicated towards the feelings of his people.” He further elaborated on the true essence of politics: “We have to internalize the fact that politics is not just a means of achieving position or facilities, but it is a path of service, sacrifice and continuous sadhna.” Deka stated that working with this spirit will strengthen democracy, bolster public confidence, and propel the state and the country towards development.
 
In his address, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh congratulated MLAs Bhawna Bohra and Lakheshwar Baghel on receiving their awards. Dr Singh specifically noted that Bhawna Bohra had earned the ‘Utkrisht Vidhayak Samman’ despite being a first-time MLA. He also extended his congratulations to the journalists and cameramen who were honored at the event. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr Charan Das Mahant also congratulated the recipients of the award. Secretary of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dinesh Sharma gave the welcome address. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kedar Kashyap proposed the vote of thanks. Speaker Dr Raman Singh’s wife Veena Singh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s wife Kaushalya Sai and Korba MP Jyotsana Mahant were also present on the dais. Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao, Vijay Sharma, cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs and officers attended the programme.
