MLA Pravin Datke regularly followed up the issue with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule
Maharashtra Government has extended the date of applying for getting freehold of Nazul land under Abhay Yojana to July 31, 2026. Earlier, the last date was July 31, 2025.
MLA Pravin Datke followed up the issue persistently.
The decision to implement a special Abhay Yojana for Nazul land leased for residential use in Nagpur and Amravati divisions was taken in March 2024. MLA Pravin Datke, when he was a member of the Legislative Council, had demanded in 2024 that a special Abhay Yojana policy be implemented to make it convenient for Nazul land holders to pay ground rent, and accordingly, a safety policy for Nazul land was announced.
Therefore, a special Abhay Yojana with 2% freehold charges of the prevailing market value was implemented by the Government decision dated March 16, 2024. Under this, a campaign to convert land into ‘Bhogwatdar’ Class 1 by charging 2% of the market value was started in Nagpur and Amravati divisions last year. This campaign is receiving a good response, which has given great relief to ordinary landowners. But the term of this special Abhay Yojana is set to end on July 31, 2025. After reviewing the comparative table of the response received from the citizens and the revenue
received by the Government, there is a need to extend the term of this scheme, MLA Pravin Datke urged in a meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
Datke explained, “Government received a revenue of Rs 9 crore between 2019 and 2024 at a rate of 5 percent based on the market value and after implementing the Special Protection Scheme, a revenue of Rs 24.65 crore has been collected in one year from 2024 to 2025 at a rate of 2 percent on the prevailing market value, hence this Special Protection Scheme has become a major revenue generator for the Government.”.
Therefore, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has accepted the demand for a one-year extension to the Special Protection Scheme regarding the Nazul land leased for residential purposes in Nagpur and Amravati divisions.
The Divisional Commissioner Vijayalaxmi Bidari, District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, and officers of the Revenue Department were present at this time. Pravin Datke expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
