University comes up with its own technology college sponsored by Lloyds 
 
Gondwana University has become a trend-setter. It is probably the first university which has come up with its own college where the engineering courses will be run. The courses which the university has planned are job oriented and related to the industries functioning right now in Gadchiroli. The college, situated at Adapalli on Nagpur Road, is named as University Institute of Technology (UIT), This is an initiative of the University Vice-Chancellor Dr Prashant Bokare who first appraised the idea to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and after his green signal, sought assistance from Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited. Resident Director of Lloyds Metals, Lt Col Vikram Mehta, is running UIT project.
 
The company readily agreed and decided to take responsibility of fees of the students of first batch. The college will begin functioning Contd from page 1 from this academic year 2025-26 with Diploma courses. The students are being admitted through Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education. Right now, 48 students have taken admissions. First batch will consist of 120 students with 30 students’ intake each in four branches including Mining, Metallurgy, Computer Science, Manufacturing Technology. The courses are designing as per the need of the areas and the kind of industries running there.
 
The eligibility criterion is-- students should have cleared Std X examination. The college is being developed on 5,424 sq ft area. It will have a huge library, computer laboratory, a workshop in the college premises. From next year, the university will start Bachelor’s course and then the college will invite applications from the students aspiring to do masters in engineering. Tribal students of nearby villages are applying for admission. The students, after successfully completing, will get jobs in Lloyds. “The aim of starting this college is, now Government is focussing more on skill development, making industry-institute linkage stronger. This will provide a ready-made workforce to the industries. In the similar fashion, the students studying here will be the readymade workforce for the industries growing in this area,” pointed out Dr Prashant Bokare.2
 
CM Devendra Fadnavis to handover admission allottment letters on 22nd
 
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is celebrating his birthday at Gadchiroli on July 22. He has planned day-long programme at this upcoming steel city of India. During his visit to Gadchioli, Fadnavis will grace the function at University Institute of Technology, where he will handover the admission allotment letters to 40 students.
