Once completed, the tiger statue will stand at over 16 feet high and stretch more than 36 feet in length, making it potentially the world’s largest tiger sculpture made of scrap metal

In a remarkable initiative under Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), a massive tiger sculpture made entirely from scrap metal is nearing completion at Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. The concept is inspired by the 3R principles, ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ advocated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote sustainable living. The construction of this unique artwork began in January, utilising discarded iron material such as old bicycles, pipes and rusted metal sheets collected from various sources.

The idea draws inspiration from the iconic ‘Make in India’ lion, which was also crafted from scrap metal. According to officials, the sculpture is being built not just as an artistic landmark but also to raise awareness about environmental conservation and responsible waste management. Once completed, the tiger statue will stand at over 16 feet high and stretch more than 36 feet in length, making it potentially the world’s largest tiger sculpture made of scrap metal. To put this achievement in perspective, the current world record for the largest tiger statue, according to available online sources, is in Georgia, USA, measuring 8 feet high and 14 feet long.

The Pench sculpture will significantly surpass these dimensions. The initiative aligns with broader goals of Mission LiFE, which emphasises adopting eco-friendly habits and celebrating sustainability through innovation. With its grand scale and powerful message, Pench Tiger sculpture is set to become a symbol of environmental responsibility and artistic excellence in India.
