National Statistics Office, Raipur, under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India organised ‘Nationwide Quiz Contest – Anvesha 2.0’ on ‘Official Statistics’ for students and alumni of various colleges and universities of Chhattisgarh State in the Conference Hall of New Circuit House, Raipur on Friday to commemorate the ‘75th Anniversary of National Sample Survey’.
 
The ‘Nationwide Quiz Competition – Anvesha 2.0’ programme organised at New Circuit House, Raipur was presided over by Altaf Hussain Haji, Deputy Director General, National Statistics Office, Raipur. Professor Vyas Dubey, Member, Private University Regulatory Commission, N Buliwal, Additional Director, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Chhattisgarh and Pradeep Chaurasia, Professor, School of Studies in Statistics, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur graced the event. On this occasion, Agarwal Sachita Rakesh, Deputy Director, National Statistics Office and R K Shrivastava, Senior Statistical Officer, National Statistics Office were also present. The event of ‘Nationwide Quiz Competition – Anvesha 2.0’ was inaugurated by the Chairman and distinguished guests through lamp lighting ceremony. In his presidential address, Altaf Hussain Haji informed that Anvesha 2.0 is being organized by the National Statistics Office to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the National Sample Survey. In this sequence, the National Statistics Office is organising ‘Nationwide Quiz Competition – Anvesha 2.0’ with the aim of promoting awareness of ‘Official Statistics’ and awakening the young minds about various aspects of the Indian Official Statistical System.
 
He motivated the youth and called upon them to choose statistics as a career through various services (Indian Statistical Service and Subordinate Statistical Service) so that they can contribute to the development of the country. Professor Vyas Dubey, Member, Private University Regulatory Commission, Raipur, in his address, underlined the importance of organising this competition and said that such events will encourage the youth to choose statistics as a career.
 
He expressed gratitude to the National Statistics Office for organising this programme and giving the youth of Chhattisgarh an opportunity to showcase their talent. Also, he underlined the contribution of the surveys being conducted by the National Statistics Office in the policy planning of the country. Shriranjini and Mokshanshi Patel from Dr Radhabai Government Naveen Girls College, Raipur got first place, Sandeep Kumar Gupta and Vikas Dewangan from Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur secured second place and Sunil Kumar and Kajal Dewangan from Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur got third place. The first winner was awarded Rs 10,000 cash, trophy and certificate, the second winner was awarded Rs 6,000 cash and certificate and the third winner was awarded Rs 4,000 cash and certificate. 56 students from 28 colleges/universities participated in this competition. All the participants were given certificates of participation. ‘Anvesha 2.0’ competition was conducted by Sadhana Pandey. Agrawal Sachita Rakesh, Deputy Director of the NSO, proposed a vote of thanks.
