Bhopal Division of West Central Railway, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Devashish Tripathi and the supervision of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, has been continuously conducting awareness campaigns to ensure passenger safety and combat the grave social issue of child trafficking. As part of this initiative, a special awareness drive was recently conducted at Narmadapuram Railway Station. The campaign was led by Sub-Inspector Santosh Patel along with his team. During the drive, approximately 35 passengers were sensitised across various areas including Platforms No. 01 and 02, near trains numbered 11057 and 22537, at the ticket booking counter, waiting hall, and circulating area.

Passengers were informed that if they notice any child travelling alone, appearing frightened, or in suspicious circumstances, or if someone is seen taking children for child labour, it should be considered a case of child trafficking, a serious criminal offence. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) advised passengers to immediately inform the nearest RPF post or call the Child Helpline at 1098 in such cases. The RPF assured that prompt rescue operations would be carried out for the children and appropriate legal actions would be taken. Passengers were also assured that their identity would be kept confidential and there would be no difficulty in providing such information. This campaign by the railway authorities is an important step towards safeguarding childhood and ensuring a secure travel environment. The RPF’s proactive initiative is helping to create awareness among passengers and the public, aiming to eradicate the menace of child trafficking from society.
