In a significant move aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring smooth traffic flow across Bhopal’s busiest corridors, the Traffic Police has imposed a ban on the movement and parking of e-rickshaws on several VIP and high-traffic roads in the city. The decision, unanimously agreed upon in the District Road Safety Committee meeting held on June 27, is implemented with immediate effect from Wednesday. The restriction comes in light of increasing congestion and safety concerns on critical city stretches that cater to high-level dignitaries, essential public services, and large volumes of daily commuters.

Authorities have clarified that these corridors will no longer allow e-rickshaw operations or parking, citing them as critical zones requiring uninterrupted flow of traffic for both public and administrative needs. Additionally, e-rickshaw transportation of school students has been prohibited across the city, as per directives from the District Collector. The Traffic Police has initiated awareness drives to educate e-rickshaw operators and school staff about this restriction and its importance in ensuring student safety. Traffic Police appeals: The Traffic Police urged all residents and commuters to strictly adhere to the updated traffic regulations, and avoid using or parking e-rickshaws in the newly restricted zones. Citizens are also advised not to transport children in e-rickshaws and to co-operate with enforcement efforts to maintain order and safety on Bhopal’s roads.
