THE Public Sector General Insurance (PSGI) employees all over the country held lunch hour demonstrations demanding wage revision on the lines of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). At Nagpur, during lunch recess the PSGI employees held demonstrations in front of Regional Offices of National Insurance Co Ltd situated at Mount Road, Sadar, Oriental Insurance Co Ltd, Nelson Square and United India Insurance Co Ltd at Shankar Nagar Square, respectively. The employees also demanded uniform family pension of 30% and employers contribution of 14% to National Pension System (NPS) among other long pending demands.

The demonstrations were called by Joint Forum of Trade Unions and Associations (JFTU) in PSGI companies. The employees registered their protest against delaying tactics of Department of Financial Services (DFS), and against casual approach on the above demands of General Insurers (Public Sector) Association of India (GIPSA). Memorandums addressed to the Chairperson of GIPSA were submitted through the Regional Incharges. JFTU has decided to intensify the struggle if their above mentioned just demands are not fulfilled. To intensify their agitation, a Dharna will be organised at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on July 29, 2025. Large number of general insurance employees and retired employees participated in the demonstrations, informs Prashant Dixit, Convenor, JFTU, Nagpur Unit.
