Abolish profession tax in Maharashtra, says NVCC

Business Reporter :

A DELEGATION of Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) met Tejrao Pacharne, Additional Commissioner, State GST Department in his office and presented a representation for abolishing profession tax in Maharashtra on Thursday. Arjundas Ahuja, President of NVCC demanded that the State Government to abolish profession tax as it creates unnecessary complexity and duplication in the tax system. Professional tax follows GST-like process of registration, monthly/annual returns and assessment, which puts unnecessary burden of compliance on businessmen and professionals.

Also, states like Delhi and Haryana have abolished profession tax via GST department. Vice Presidents of NVCC Farooqbhai Akbani, Swapnil Ahirkar, Secretary Sachin Puniyani, PRO CA Hemant Sarda, Convenor of Indirect Tax Committee CA Ritesh Mehta, Jaiprakash Parekh and Narayan Toshniwal were present.
