State Congress President :

Deepak Baij :

has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to elect a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Chhattisgarh as next Vice-President of India after Jagdeep Dhankhar had resigned from the post of the Vice President. In his letter, Baij mentioned that the BJP had won 10 Lok Sabha seats out of 11 in Chhattisgarh in 2024 parliamentary elections. The BJP had won 10 Lok Sabha in 2014

Lok Sabha elections and 9 seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Chhattisgarh has got the post of a union minister of state in the three tenures of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government. At present, there are several senior BJP leaders like former Governor Ramesh Baij in the state. Ramesh Bai was the Governor of Jharkhand, Tripura and Maharashtra and he was a seven time MP from Raipur Lok Sabha seat. At present, 10 BJP MPs of Chhattisgarh have not got important posts. A BJP leader from Chhattisgarh should be given priority in the appointment of Vice President, added Baij.
