BJP pays tributes, celebrate 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas in city

 

 

On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a tribute-paying programme at the War Memorial in city on Friday. The programme honoured the supreme sacrifice of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War. This is the very day when, in 1999, Indian soldiers crushed Pakistan’s malicious intentions and secured the victory on the snow-clad heights of Kargil. BJP leaders and workers participated in the event. The leaders offered floral tributes to the martyrs and recalled their unmatched bravery and devotion to the motherland. Addressing the gathering, Uike said Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just a day of remembrance, but a reminder of the courage and patriotism that defines our armed forces. The youth of our nation must be made aware of the valour shown by our jawans in the face of adversity. Other speakers stressed the need to involve educational institutions in such commemorations.

 

They said schools and colleges must participate in these events to nurture patriotic feelings among students and educate them about the sacrifices that ensure our nation’s safety. BJP City President Rajesh Sonkar, former corporators, senior office bearers and a large number of party workers and citizens were present during the programme. The event concluded with a pledge to uphold the unity and integrity of the nation.
