Crime Branch and Omti Police have arrested a habitual vehicle thief and recovered 11 stolen two-wheelers valued at around Rs 8 lakh. The arrested has been identified as Pawan Patel (22), son of Sitaram Patel, a resident of Sharda Chowk, Anna Mohalla in Gohalpur. SHO of Omti police station, Rajpal Singh Baghel, while addressing a press conference, informed that on July 21, 2025, a complaint of vehicle lifting was received from the MPEB Mission Compound area. Investigating the case, police analyzed
 
CCTV footages of the area and informers were activated. Police found a suspect matching the CCTV image was trying to sell a motorcycle near Sneh Niketan Hostel, Gorakhpur. Acting promptly on the information, a joint team surrounded and apprehended the suspect. In the interrogation, suspected identified himself as Pawan Patel and admitted to stealing the said motorcycle. Further intensive questioning revealed he used duplicate keys to steal vehicles randomly parked in public areas.
 
The accused confessed to stealing 10 additional two-wheelers from various areas, including Splendor (MP 20 NH 9916) in Civil Lines, Honda Dream Yuga (MP 20 NJ 1836) in Gwarighat, HF Deluxe (MP 20 NF 8717) in Panagar, Glamour (MP 21 MN 5613) in Khitola, Activa (MP 21 ML 1235) in Kotwali, Katni, Passion Pro (MP 21 MJ 4784) in Kotwali, Katni, Honda Shine (MP 20 NP 5584) in Ghansor, Seoni, HF Deluxe (MP 22 MK 7359) in Kotwali, Seoni, Honda Shine (MP 49 MN 4345) in Station Ganj, Narsinghpur and Bullet (MH 10 BU 4891) in Nagpur, Maharashtra. All stolen vehicles were hidden behind bushes near a house close to Sneh Niketan Hostel.
 
The police recovered all 11 vehicles. The accused is a habitual offender with 19 prior cases registered against him, including theft, Arms Act violations and assault. Vehicle lifter was apprehended with active working of police team led by SHO, Omti, Rajpal Singh Baghel, SHO, Crime, Shailesh Mishra comprised of ASI, Sudhir Patel, Head Constable, Sunil Singh, Constable, Shiv Singh, from DSB and Crime Branch, ASI Dhananjay Singh, ASI Prashant Solanki, Head Constables, Virendra Singh, Atal Janghela, Mannu Singh, Satyasen, Constables, Rajesh Mishra, Trilok Pardhi, Rajesh Mataray, Vinay Singh and Ajit Kumar.
