, July 26 The Chhattisgarh High Court has issued notices to Deputy Inspector General of Police (Administration) Parul Mathur and Superintendent of Police, Janjgir, Vijay Pandey in a contempt petition over non-compliance with its order on compassionate appointment. The petition, filed by Vikki Bharti of Ward No. 16, Pamgarh, through Advocate Abhishek Pandey, draws the court’s attention to the State

Home Department’s earlier reversal of a compulsory retirement order issued to Bharti’s deceased father. The High Court had ruled that the petitioner was entitled to a compassionate job. However, despite the lapse of the 90-day compliance period, the appointment was not made. Advocates Abhishek Pandey and Priya Agrawal submitted that such delays by senior police officers are contributing to a growing number of contempt petitions. As per records, 1,149 contempt matters are pending before the Bilaspur Bench, resulting in significant judicial time being diverted to enforcement rather than adjudication.
